Dechomai

Dechomai Events was founded by Bayile Adeoti to promote diversity and community integration through delivering events and paid work place training.

Dechomai Events aims to bridge the gap between the needs of the growing BME migrant communities and existing support provision in Scotland.

What was your inspiration for setting up your social enterprise?

I wanted to create a platform for employment for women looking to get experience in events or even wanting to return to work.

What have you found challenging setting up your social enterprise?

Choosing the legal structure was daunting. I had several meetings and discussions with experts and I’d advise everyone to do so.

Do you have any top tips for someone thinking of starting a social enterprise?

Go for it! The Firstport business advisors are there to help, listen to their feedback and learn to persevere! Funding is competitive so if at first you don’t succeed, even if its the second or third time … keep going! You need to be resilient as an entrepreneur.

What are your hopes for the future?

My hope (3 year plan) is to have 5 full time employed staff and a multipurpose event space.
